Submissions have now closed for the country of Slovenia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, with the nation’s national broadcaster set to assess each of the entries over the coming weeks. A total of 108 entries have been submitted, but who will be in the running for Lisbon 2018?

Back in September, the Slovenian national broadcaster – RTVSLO – confirmed the country’s participation at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, once again revealing their plans to opt for another national selection in order to select their representative.

Submissions opened shortly after their confirmation, in which artists and composers from across the nation were invited to submit their entries for the selection in the hope of representing Slovenia in Lisbon next May.

Having kept submissions open for 2 months, last night saw the deadline pass in order for bidding acts to submit their entries for Slovenia.

RTVSLO has today confirmed that 108 entries have been received in the search for their next representative, with the broadcaster set to look at and assess the submissions over the coming weeks.

Slovenia at Eurovision 2017

For this year, Omar Naber was selected once again to represent Slovenia at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, having won the country’s national selection – Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA) – earlier in the year.

Returning to the competition for a second time after initially representing the nation in 2005, Naber competed in the host nation of Kyiv with his song On my way and competed in the first semi-final of the contest.

Receiving 36 points, Naber failed to qualify to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, finishing 17th out of 18 countries in semi-final 1.
