Armenia: AMPTV confirms participation in Eurovision 2016

AMPTV, the Armenian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Armenia will compete at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Armenia is the 34th country to confirm its participation at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Armenia has once again opted for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Eurovision 2016. The 2016 Armenian entry will be revealed on 13 October at 17:15 CET during AMPTV’s Profession of a Journalist TV Show. The show will be aired live and you can follow it here.

The period for countries to apply for participation at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest concluded on 15 September. Hereafter applicant countries have a grace period until 10 October to decide if they are to stay or not in the competition without facing a financial penalty

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 of May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

In 2015 Armenia selected its Eurovision entry and act for Vienna via an internal selection. Genealogy represented Armenia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with their entry Face the shadow.

Armenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the contest in 2008 with Sirusho and in 2014 with Aram Mp3, placing 4th on both occasions.
