Georgia: GPB confirms participation in Eurovision 2016

GPB, the Georgian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Georgia will join the Eurovision party in Stockholm next year.

Georgia is the 25th country to confirm its presence at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm next year. The method and mechanism GPB will use in order to select the 2016 Georgian entry and act for Stockholm is yet to be determined. More details will be disclosed in due course.

The deadline for countries to submit their respective applications  in order to compete at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest concludes today. Herefater all applicants have a grace period until 10 October  to decide wether to stay in the contest or leave without facing a financial penalty.

In 2015 Georgia selected its entry and act via a national final. Nina Sublatti was awarded the golden ticket to represent Georgia in Vienna with her entry Warrior. She placed 11th in the grand final.

Georgia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with Sopho Khalvashi‘sVisionary Dream. The country is yet to win the event and their  best placing at the contest has been a 9th place in 2010 with Sopho Nizharadze‘s Shine and in 2011 with Eldrine‘s One more day.
